Cookie Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This page lists every cookie this site can set, what each one is for and how long it stays on your device. It goes together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. On your next visit the browser hands it back, so the site can recognise the browser. Some cookies disappear when you close the window; others stay for months. The same rules apply to similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels, and we treat them the same way here.

2. Nothing runs before you say yes

When you first arrive, only the strictly necessary cookies are set. Analytics and advertising stay switched off — not merely unreported, actually not loaded — until you choose. If you reject them, those scripts are never requested at all.

Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting. Both are one click, on the same screen, on buttons of the same size. A banner where refusing takes more effort than agreeing does not produce valid consent, and we would rather have an honest answer than a tired one.

3. Strictly necessary

These make the site work and record the choice you made about the others. They do not need consent, because without them the site cannot do what you asked for.

ecomecho_consent ecomecho.us Remembers which cookie categories you accepted, so we stop asking on every page. 6 months

4. Analytics

Only with your consent. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read, how people arrive and where they give up. We look at totals, not at individuals, and IP addresses are shortened before being stored.

_ga Google Tells one browser apart from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. 2 years
_ga_<id> Google Keeps the state of the visit for this particular site. 2 years
_gid Google Same job as _ga, but only across a single day. 24 hours
_gat Google Limits how often requests are sent to Google when a site is busy. 1 minute

5. Marketing

Only with your consent. We use the Meta Pixel so we can show our ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited this site, and so we can tell whether those ads led anywhere. This involves Meta receiving a record of your visit.

_fbp Meta Identifies the browser so an ad can be shown to it later. 3 months
_fbc Meta Stores which ad you clicked to get here, if you arrived from one. 3 months

6. Changing your mind

You can change your choice whenever you like, and it costs nothing to switch something off after switching it on.

The same link sits in the footer of every page. When you switch a category off, we delete the cookies it had already set and reload the page so the scripts stop running.

7. Blocking cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies from the browser itself, for this site or for all of them. Be aware that blocking everything breaks parts of many websites — though not this one, which only needs a single cookie to work.

8. Fonts, and what we deliberately left out

This site loads its typeface from our own server. Most sites pull fonts from Google, which means every visitor's browser contacts Google — and hands over an IP address — before anything has been agreed. We host the font files here instead, so that request never happens.

There are no embedded videos, no social widgets, no live chat and no third-party images on this site. Every one of those would otherwise load code from someone else's server.

9. Changes

If we add a tool that sets cookies, this page is updated before the tool goes live and we ask for your consent again. The date at the top tells you when this last happened.
